Follow-up from Week of Action on Poverty

Thank you so much to everyone who got involved in the Week of Action against Poverty in some way!

Here are some pictures of the week. If you have any more pictures, please send them to us and we'll post them - ulethstudentactioncollective@gmail.com

The week was kicked off with a performance by the University of Lethbridge Steel Band!

Tables by various groups...

Participants in the Stand Up moment - over 120 of them! University of Lethbridge President Bill Cade is reading the Poverty Pledge at the front.
Overview:
The week was a success, with lots of postcards to Ed Stelmach signed, 127 food donations, 96 jackets, and around 97 signatures on the giant letter to Stephen Harper - and of course, over 120 people Standing Up on Oct 17th (FYI there were 38 million people who stood up worldwide - and we were a part of that!). Also, we got lots of press coverage, which was excellent!

As well some great talks (although not as many people were present to hear them as we could have hoped) on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch, as well as Wednesday evening at our speakers event.

And one last time I'd like to thank LPRIG for the funding they gave us which made the event possible, and also thank you to the Campus Women's Centre and Rotaract (our two most-involved groups!), as well as to all the groups on campus and off who had displays or were involved in some other way.

We will be posting a list of organizations to hook up with and other ways to get involved and continue to take action here very soon, so please check that out, and continue to take action on poverty!

Thanks again to everyone for their involvement!
